Blockout

First I create a really rough block out, no concern about topology just smash it together / Boolean etc. This is going to be to scale so I’ve also created a quick rigged character who is around Kaneda’s height and build. Just looking to get a feel for the main components and how it could work.

For the block out mostly it works to scale from the references, I had to move the seat forward a bit so as not to overly stretch the arms out of proportion but overall it’s not too bad.

At this point I’m starting to manually move the wheels about and think how the suspension is going to work and clearances. the back suspension setup will be fine the front suspension just wont work, you can see the issue from some of these sketches from Akira Mechanix (I really want a proper copy of this but it’s so rare!) this setup wont work and you can see in the real version they created it’s just a straight bar which won’t work either. Before I go any further, I’m going to focus on the mechanics of the front suspension.
